HJWAVE (CEO: Tae-Hwan Yoo), an autonomous driving sub-materials, parts, and equipment company, announced on the 17th that its wideband and wide-angle antenna technology applicable to autonomous driving radar, developed with its own technology, has been approved for patent registration by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

The patent is titled 'MULTI-LAYER ANTENNA STRUCTURE SUPPORTING WIDE BAND AND WIDE ANGLE' and is a technology that can implement wideband and wide-angle characteristics simultaneously. It is an invention that improves bandwidth by 500% and wide-angle by 150% compared to conventional technology, while ensuring mass production and reducing weight by 82%. The patent has already been registered in Korea and is also pending with the European Patent Office.

Tae-Hwan Yoo, CEO of HJWAVE, said, "Through this U.S. patent registration, it has been verified that we have secured our own unique technology that is differentiated from overseas companies. In addition, we plan to strengthen our competitiveness through development and mass production based on antenna technology, thereby fully advancing into the global market, and contribute to the improvement of the trade imbalance through the localization of autonomous driving radar, thereby contributing to the export industry,” they said.

HJ Wave stated, “In the antenna-related field, which is emerging as a key element technology as the autonomous driving stage increases, we have registered 6 patents (5 domestic, 1 overseas) including patents for 5 key element technologies that must be secured together when considering mass production, as well as the relevant patents, and have applied for 12 patents (10 domestic, 2 overseas).” They added, “We are currently discussing project progress and commercialization with various companies at home and abroad, and as a result, we have concluded various contracts and attracted KRW 8 billion in Pre-A series investment. In addition, we are currently in the process of attracting Series A investment to build a manufacturing line so that the registered patents can be applied to mass production and put into actual use, and we are already discussing detailed investment contracts with a number of investors.”

In addition, the company said, “We are planning to participate in the Consumer Electronics Association (CES) in the U.S. and the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Europe with products that use the technology, and we plan to use this as a starting point to strengthen our global marketing and enter various industrial fields.”
